Annexation is a way for the unique spirit, culture, and history of the neighborhood will not only be respected but celebrated. Through thoughtful collaboration, annexation becomes a way to strengthen both the community and the city, preserving what makes the neighborhood special while opening the door to new opportunities and shared progress.
Among some of the reasons the Biltmore Heights Neighborhood Association Board is unanimously recommending annexation into South Miami:
South Miami is exempt from Work Force Housing. Miami-Dade County has made Work Force Housing and eliminating single-family homes a priority.
South Miami has 4 Commissioners and a Mayor who all have a vested interest in this specific area and in our neighborhood. Several of the Commissioners live within, or adjacent to, Biltmore Heights.
In Miami-Dade County we are represented by ONE of THIRTEEN Commissioners, all who have their very own, large areas to prioritize and personal agendas.
We are a large and powerful voting block in South Miami, whose voices cannot be ignored.
As we all know, South Miami is interested but before the City starts the process, one of the key requirements to move forward is that at least 20% of the electors in the area are in favor of annexation. (Electors, not households, which means all 18+ residents within Biltmore Heights that can vote).
